Who am I

Natelie started to have an interest in Complementary Therapies from 2000 where she attended an introductory course in Massage and various Complementary Therapies.  By late 2002, Natelie became pregnant with her son.  Her Pregnancy experience like many pregnant women was a roller coaster ride of emotions; from fears to excitement to complete elation.  Natelie was also shocked with how much Pregnancy consumed her and It seemed every waking thought and even conversation (a bore we know to all those around us) was a about pregnancy, birth or baby related.
Her own personal experience made her realise that there was quite a lack of emotional support in the conventional Antenatal Care System.  Natelie found that her antenatal appointments felt quite rushed and she often came away from the appointments feeling deflated and quite stressed. This was not a criticism to Midwives, she just understood that Midwives roles had changed and their hands were tied to the amount of pregnant women they had to see in a clinic. This had an impact on her, as she was not assigned to one midwife, but to a team, which she found as many mothers still do to be quite frustrating.

During her own Postnatal Period, Natelie realised that her love for Complementary Therapy would complement women who were pregnant as the majority of therapies work on not only the physical, but for mental and emotional support.  Natelie then decided  to train in Massage and Holistic care for women. Her main aim was, and still is to be a support to women. This support comes from being able to offer information on how to manage their symptoms of pregnancy, such as morning sickness and heartburn, to being able to manage their own bodies during pregnancy, birth and beyond. This is achieved through simple postural exercises, listening and nurturing their emotional and mental thoughts and feelings and massage based treatments.
Natelie began her Holistic Massage Diploma Course and followed on with various Complementary Therapies.  Once qualified she began work within a local charity, working with young and vulnerable families; it was during this time she studied for a Pregnancy Certificate in Massage. In order to get a greater understanding and in-depth knowledge of the Pregnant and Postnatal body, Natelie went on to study with Suzanne Yates from Wellmother.
Natelie set up Mother & Bump in 2008, with a mission statement ‘to help women feel empowered within their bodies, with their feelings and to trust their own inner wisdom’. This is achieved by listening, sharing or just helping the clients to relax in total silence for a hour or two.

Natelie’s aim is helping women to have a relaxed and distressed attitude, so they can adjust and enjoy the pregnancy. This ultimately leads to a easier and more relaxed attitude towards the birth and helps the mother to adjust physically and mentally in the postnatal period.
Her love and passion for pregnancy based work has led Natelie to explore other avenues, which has led to her qualififying as Birthing / Postnatal Doula (with Nurturing Birth).  With this, she can offer her clients even more support during birth and in the postnatal period.
